# Script actions

An action is what a script DOES, as opposed to what it asks. Actions produce everything a conversation leaves behind: the advice on screen, the work raised at the end, how urgent it is, the service it was raised against, and the record of what was decided.

**In this section**

* Messages — the advice a customer sees or hears
* Tasks — the emails, letters, texts, notes and jobs raised at the end
* Task templates — the authored content a task sends
* Priorities — how urgent the work is
* Markers — a trail worth reporting on, with nothing shown to the caller
* Services and SOR codes — the repair, and the code your housing system needs
* Result summaries — the record of what the conversation decided

What a script ASKS is a [question](/scripts/questions.md). The steps Keyfax itself provides — the category list, the result summary, handing over to a person — are [system actions](/scripts/system-actions.md), which live with the script editor because that is where you place them.
